How to Organize and Promote the Event in Your Area

Thank you in advance for your passion and devotion to our troops, and in organizing this event in your area. At the heart of America for the Troops, is about caring for people, namely, our military, at home and abroad. We are honoring their dedication, commitment and bravery, regardless of our beliefs. I can think of no greater gift we can give the men and women of our military, than to publicly acknowledge and thank them across the nation in a spectacular event such as this.

Thank you, from my heart to yours,
Lorraine Montana, Creator/Organizer

First, you must decide where you want to hold your event. Second, fill out an application online and wait to receive confirmation from us before organizing the event in your area. The event information from each city and state will be posted on the website. As people log on, they will be able to see if there is already an event scheduled in their area, and if so, where it will be held. All communication should be directed to www.americaforthetroops.org. There should be no other websites or email addresses regarding this event.

1. Put together a committee and begin to meet on a regular basis.

2. Enlist the help of another similar group.

3. Obtain any necessary written permission for location as       applicable.

4. Order posters and event cards/fliers from www.angelonmyshoulder.us

These are professionally printed with America for the Troops logo, mission statement and event information to assist you with promoting the event in your area.

5. Assign committee members various responsibilities. Be sure to keep detailed notes so you will know who you’ve contacted, who has yet to be contacted, and for follow up purposes.

6.
  a. Send press releases to local:

Newspapers – www.onlinenewspapers.com

Go to the drop down bar that says “US Only”, click the arrow and choose, “list by state”. Then click on the state you want to search by and it will give you a list of links for every newspaper for that state.

TV Stations - www.newsconnect.net

Choose any one of 50 states and it will pop up links (w/ logos) of news stations and newspapers.

e. E-mail: Forward this website www.americaforthetroops.org to all of your family and friends. Ask them to forward it to all of their family and friends, and so on.

I recently saw a mathematical equation (that came to me via email) on the power of “email forwarding” as I like to call it.
It went something like this:

1. If I send this web address to 30 people (30 people will be reached)
2. If those 30 people send it to 10 more people (300 people will be reached)
3. If those 300 send it to 10 more people (3,000 people will be reached)
4. By the sixth group (3,000,000 people will have been reached)
5. If they send it to 10 more people (30,000,000 people will be reached)
6. One more level of 10’s . . . (300,000,000 people will be reached)
