News Talk 1400 KQMS radio interview July 21, 2006 with Mary St. John
Lorraine Montana, a mother, a business woman and an innovator
First Radio Segment
Mary St. John: There are a number of grass roots organizations throughout the country that have formed since September 11th showing their support for our troops abroad. In an effort to bring them together, as well as bring individual communities together, Lorraine Montana of Redding has formed America for the Troops. By promoting the event online she has rallied together organizations and communities nationwide to celebrate October 1st this year, as a day for the troops.
Lorraine Montana: I just started thinking about what could I do. What could I do on a national level to try to bring all of the people in all of these various groups together collectively, in addition to everything that they’re doing in their communities.
Mary St. John: Montana’s mission and information on how you can be involved can be found online at www.americaforthetroops.org. Montana’s son recently joined the military and will be in Iraq in a matter of weeks. While he’s away, Montana will not be sitting and waiting for his return, she’ll be organizing a nationwide system of support for those men and women serving with him. For her motivation and dedication, we honor her as our KQMS Person of the Week.

Lorraine Montana: Showing support and gratitude to the troops, and also to bring communities together and as well to tie into the rest of the nation where we can get together with other people, hopefully meet some new people, share some stores.

Montana said it’s not only important for the nation to show support but for communities and individuals to rally together. For more information you can log onto www.americaforthetroops.org.
